26Feb2014 - The Good News/The Good Deal

How you doin?  We had a wonderful dinner/fellowship last night with our friends Jack, Jill, and Sue.  It's really enjoyable for Stacey and I to visit with friends who are as excited about the Kingdom as we are.  I would like to again invite you to the Abundant Life Church in Seaville tonight for pray and worship.  It starts at 7pm.  We will be there.  Hebrews 13 today.  Hebrews is the 58th book of the Bible.  For the 58th time Stacey and I said "this could be the best book in the Bible".  I'm starting to think that they are all really good.  We'll see how the last 8 books are.  HAHA!!!
Verses 1-2, "Let love of the brethren continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it."  Verse 1 indicates a choice.  The word "let" certainly puts the ball in my court.  Sometimes I pray that God overwhelms me with the fullness of His love to make it impossible for me to choice poorly.  I love verse 2.  To think of everyone I meet as a potential angel is a cool concept.  I would love to be able to make people wonder if I'm an angel when they meet me.  So far in life, I haven't had that problem.
Verses 5-6, "Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,” so that we confidently say,
The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid.
What will man do to me?”'
This verse make me think of Acts 3:6, "But Peter said, “I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene—walk!”'  How much better is having the Presence, power, authority, grace, and love of God, then money or worldly stuff.  Having a relationship with Him, knowing Him, and loving Him is worth everything.
Verses 8-9, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who [b]were so occupied were not benefited."  WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!  I always think of verse 8 when I hear people say that the signs, wonders, and miracles in the Bible were for then, but not now.  Especially raising people from the dead.  If verse 8 is the truth, which it is, then verse 9 should clear up the topic of Bible interpretation.  The Bible is truth, not fiction.  It's not meant to be "interpreted" to fit life's experiences, unbelief, or lack of understanding.  Jesus hasn't changed His mind.
Verses 20-21, "Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep [g]through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord21 equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen."  SO GOOD!!!!!!!  These verses are sick (which means better then good).  I love the concept of God supplying me with the means to be pleasing to Him.  What a deal.  It's like my in-laws giving me the money to go buy them a new car for Christmas.  When I give them the car, that they paid for, they're pleased with me and I'm still their favorite son in-law (sorry Steve).  Jesus paid the price and the Holy Ghost does the work in me that pleases the Father.  What a great deal.  I dare one to find any other relationship that's like that.  The closest I can think of is with me kids.  It's only close, not the same.  May your heart be strengthened by grace today.
