Paul Email -16Augut2013- Luke 12 (Worry and Watching)

How you doin? I'm finding that every heading, paragraph, story, verse, and word in the Bible could be a study. I'm trying to read through the Bible to take God in without studying, interpreting, breaking down, or dissecting every heading, paragraph, story, verse, or word. Luke 12 makes that hard to do. Luke's gospel is just AWESOME!!!!!!! We as a family are over scheduled more then normal this week. V.B.S., Dr. appointments (before we no longer have insurance), relatives birthdays, and so on. Please be praying for us. We are in major transition. God has been and will continue to give us grace for this. Back to Luke 12.

29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.32 Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
35 “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. 37 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comesTruly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them38 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. 39 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” (Luke 12:29-40)
I
n the interest of time, I've selected these verses. Please don't let my lack of time short the value of this scripture... read around these verses. I love how Luke takes us from worry into watching. I don't think it's a coincidence.
"
Your Father knows that you need them". OH SNAP!!!!!!! We often laugh at our prayers of petition. We pray as though God doesn't know anything about us. Silly human condition.

I love verse 32. "Do not be afraid... your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom

.
" AWESOME!!!!!!! It's ok to receive His Kingdom. DIG IT!!!!!!! So it goes from talking about God providing all that we need, cloths included, to "Be dressed and ready". Some times even I can figure it out. Verse 37 get's me the most. If the master finds the servant watching when he returns, it will be good for the servant. Good because the master "will dress himself to serve". So let me get this straight, God provides us with the means to be pleasing to Him and then rewards/serves us for it. COME ON!!!!!!! That's a great deal. Gods compassion and love for His children is over whelming. Dress yourself in God's love today.
