When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. (Luke 9:1-2)
can't read these verses without wondering why my life looks the way it
does. Perhaps I can't hear Jesus' call. I believe He calls ALL
believers. There's no special prayer, church attendance quota, tithe,
behavior criteria, or deeds that turns our Heaven cell phone on. Jesus
calls... it's up to us to answer, respond, and receive "power and
authority". AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! Help me receive Jesus. The Holy Ghost is
quite the tutor. As I was reading today He was highlighting words.
Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. (Luke 9:32) I love this verse. Repetitions work on me. I need to hear it several times before it gets to a place in my brain where it will stay.
If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.” (Luke 9:5)
He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing. (Luke 9:11)
The next day, when they came down from the mountain, a large crowd met him. (Luke 9:37)
Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. (Luke 9:48)
53 but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. (Luke 9:53) I almost have it. Welcome Jesus. Welcome each other. Leave if we are not welcomed. Check!
11 but the crowds learned about it and followed him. (Luke 9:11)
Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. (Luke 9:23) I just threw "daily" in there.
As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” (Luke 9:57)
He said to another man, “Follow me.” (Luke 9:59)
Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.” (Luke 9:61)
For those of you who are reading this before you coffee... "welcome" and
"follow" are mentioned a lot in this chapter and in the entire Bible.
RAD!!!!!!! Part of the outer layer of the Holy snowball reads like
this... repent, receive, pay attention, keep watch, stay awake, welcome
Jesus, and follow Jesus. COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you
Holy Ghost for teaching me. Welcome Jesus today.Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
