How you doin? So we
were reading the Bible with the kids this morning and it led to memory
verses. The kids have memorized 5 verses and are working on their 6th. I
asked if they could memorize 2 Corinthians 3:18. It's a bit long for them so we may go with 2 Corinthians 3:17.
Anyway, it got me reading and thinking about 2 Corinthians 3. What a
late start today. Mens Bible study, car maintenance, and Dr.'s
appointments = late starts.
2 Cor. 3 is
just AWESOME!!!!!!! It's amazing to how 18 verses has consumed my
thoughts and attention for about 7 months now. After yesterday's book
I'll keep it short. Yesterday Romans 1 pointed out how the Jews had
traded the truth of God for lies. So, God turned them over to hearing
without understanding and seeing without perceiving. I call this "what
not to do". The Bible is loaded with prophecy, instruction, and
promises. These things help with what I call "what to do". 2 Cor 3, is
an incredible instruction, prophecy, and promise for me. Verse 18, "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image
with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the
Spirit." WOW!!!!!!! The key words for me are "transformed" and "His
image". I believe as Christians we try to conform people to our ways.
According to Webster's conform means, "to be similar to or the
same as something, to obey or agree with something, to do what other
people do : to behave in a way that is accepted by most people". That
would be okay if I stayed the same and was 100% Christ like. However I'm
not... far from it. If I got everyone I know to conform to my ways of
thinking this week, I would need to do it all over again as God grows me
to Him. I believe that's why He offers us transformation. If He's
willing to transform me... maybe I should try to let Him transform other
people through me. COME ON!!!!!!! According to Webster's transform
means, "to change (something) completely and usually in a good way". Now
we're talking. This call from God causes us to repent. Webster's says
repent means "to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the
amendment of one's life". This sounds like "what to do". If I turn from
one way... I must be heading another Way (pun intended). "Contemplate
the Lord's glory" today... I believe you will be transformed.
