How you doin? So much
is going on as usual. It's mind bending hearing all the prayer request
that we receive. People, including us, need Jesus SO BAD. Audrey lost
her 2nd tooth. She's so funny. She said to Stacey "the Tooth Fairy will
give me a dollar". Stacey said "you know there's no Tooth Fairy... your
dad and I give you that dollar because we're proud of your hard work
getting your tooth out". Audrey response with "WHAT!". She's so funny.
We've been through this story like 20 times. Acts 2 today
Pentecost
is AWESOME!!!!!!! The first 13 verses of Acts 2 are just mind blowing.
The power and glory of the Presences of God. The arrival of the Holy
Ghost. I really try to pay attention from here on because Jesus has
ascended to Heaven. In other words, these scriptures apply to me because
they are on "this side of the cross". Scripture on "that side of the
cross" teach me about God's character and nature. Scripture on this side
of the cross teach about what I am to receive and live by. SAY
WORD!!!!!!! It all works together. Peter references Joel 2:28-32,
in his explanation of what was happening. The out pouring of the Holy
Spirit. Joel prophesied about it and these people are experiencing it.
COME ON!!!!!!! Peter also references David's prophecy from Psalm 16:8-11
and 110:1. I love verse 24, "But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death,
because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him."
POWERFUL!!!!!!! Verses 36-41 got me the most today. Verse 36 tells us
that "God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and
Christ". WOW!!!!!!! This verse demands a response. The people "were cut
to the heart" and asked "Brothers, what shall we do?" That a great
response. One that I take notice of. I nail Jesus to the cross every
time I sin. OUCH!!!!!!! I'm sorry Jesus. Peter gives them/me an out.
Verse 38 "Repent and be baptized... and you will receive the gift of the
Holy Spirit." THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!! SAY WORD!!!!!!! What a word of
redemption. They/we nailed Jesus to the cross and He reconciles us to
the Father and gives us the gift of the Spirit of Truth and Revelation.
COME ON!!!!!!! If you're not a little teary eyed, check your pulse.
Verse 39 should finish you off, "The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
Here comes the "Sonny". To think this promise is for me is
AWESOME!!!!!!!. Knowing it's for Audrey and Paulie is overwhelming.
Knowing it's for us even if we are "far off" is reassuring. To cap it
all off God calls me. COME ON!!!!!!! I'm getting charged up over here.
WOW!!!!!!! What grace, mercy, and LOVE! Peter goes on to warn them to
"Save yourselves from this corrupt generation". Verse 41 is some kind of
testimony. They/we nailed Jesus to the cross by sinning and all we need
to do is accept Jesus' offer. COME ON!!!!!!!
I was
really inspired by my young cousin Margaret in Fla., who responded to
yesterday's email with "What type of power? I guess like specifically
what would that look like?" I suggested she read Ephesians 1 and 6. We
have power and authority over 4 things. This is some homework for you.
Acts 2 can really help us with what type of power/gift we receive. COME
ON!!!!!!! Receive the out pouring of the Holy Spirit today... it hasn't
stopped.
