Paul Email -1Oct2013- Acts 5 (Feeling Flogged)

How you doin? I'm feeling rather flogged today and thanks to the Holy Ghost and Acts 5 it feels good. COME ON!!!!!!! It was brought to my attention that I misstated something about a discussion in Sunday school. So I went back and looked and after further review the statement I made in yesterday's email stands... "Yesterday in Sunday school there was mention of failures in ministry." I didn't come close to implying that we were discussing failed ministries, but we were discussing "failures in ministries".
I faced question I don't have all the answers to this morning. It triggers in me "fight or flight". I have yet to find Biblical support for this reaction. I'm finding myself being led to love God and my neighbor. I've found plenty of Biblical support for love. So very upset and having extraordinary tightness in my chest, which I know isn't from God, we sat down to seek a Kingdom solution for worldly problems. SAY WORD!!!!!!!
Stacey opens her Bible to Acts 5 and looks down. 1 second later she says to me look at verse 29, "We must obey God rather than men!". COME ON!!!!!!! God is perfect. Looking to Him is the right thing to do. While reading chapter 5 the Holy Ghost starts changing of my mind and body. Verses 33-40 tells of a man named Gamaliel and his speech to the Sanhedrin. Gamaliel was "honored by all the people". So he had a voice and he had respect. He reminded the Sanhedrin of 2 men who led revolt on human origin and that the revolts failed. Gamaliel suggested that the Sanhedrin, "Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail." (5:38) After all, lies and counterfeit are short lived when it comes to eternity. Verse 39 packs the punch that knocked me out, "But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” WOW!!!!!!! God wins. So the Sanhedrin have the apostles flogged and lets them go.
Now the part that got me was the apostles response. The word "flogged" to me sound awful. Verses 41-42 say this, "The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. 42 Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah." So here I sit changed by the Holy Ghost and Word of God. The physical sensation is different. The tightness in my chest has left and the burning in my cheeks has begun. My hands are shaking and heart is racing... and it feels good. I receive that word of rejoicing after being flogged. AWESOME!!!!!!! Thank you God for your grace to allow me to achieve what you've called me to do. I'll be taking my flogging today... and rejoicing. PRAISE JESUS!!!!!!!
