How you doin? We had wonderful company last night for a showing of "Finger Of God". We love watching God turning the wheels in peoples minds and hearts. We also love it when He turns our wheels. I believe Bill Johnson when he says that if the Scriptures sound like they contradict themselves, it's a problem with our understanding, because God doesn't contradict Himself. This thought is very important to keep in my mind while reading the book of 1 John. I still refuse to adjust or twist the Scripture to suite my understanding. I will pray for understanding and revelation. 1 John 5 today.
Verses 3-4, "For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is [f]born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith." SO GOOD!!!!!!! This is extremely encouraging. I had lunch with a friend yesterday and we were discussing why Jesus' forgiveness doesn't give us the right or freedom to sin freely. These verses make it very clear. Our faith is the way that we have victory over the world. Faith like a child. Total and 100% dependency, belief, and faith in God. I watch Audrey and Paulie just completely belief Stacey and I. We tend to tease kids in our society, because they are "gullible" and believing, so it's easy and "funny". Praise God that He doesn't tease us. I for one try my best not to tease the kids so not to steal that innocent faith and belief. I do try to obtain child like faith in God. Being teased by partial truth teaching makes it harder for me to go head over heals into loving faith in God. He is breaking off my unbelief and self created defenses from being teased with twisted truth. COME ON!!!!!!! One of our guest last night said "skepticism is in all of us". What a rough thing to believe. I would rather believe that Christ is in all of us. It's through Christ abiding in us that we have access to His faith. We have access to the full measure of His faith, which was 100% in Father God.
Verses 13-15, "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 This is the confidence which we have [l]before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him." I'll take that promise. With that promise, I'll continue to ask for understanding, revelation, my full measure of His faith, and an intimate knowledge of Him. COME ON!!!!!!!
Verse 18-20, "We know that no one who is [o]born of God sins; but He who was [p]born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him. 19 We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life." WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!! I'm going to make sure I know this. Not just to know it in my mind, but to know it in my heart. Receive the understanding to know Him who is true today.
