How you doin?
Stacey, Audie, Paul Boy, and I are heading to Virginia today. So we
will not be doing our normal devotional. We're leaving at 6am.
I'm going to see the Flyers play the Capitals with my brother in-law
Steve. Today is the front end of a home and home. Stacey and I are
going to see the back end on Weds. 20+ years of watching hockey and
this will be my first home and home in person. I've arrived.
This email
feels like a drive by today. Two Scriptures were brought to my
attention yesterday that I just can't shake. Ephesians 1, which I try
to avoid because I get stuck in it for days, sometimes weeks, and Isaiah
55. I am not going to just copy theses chapters into this email.
You're going to have to read them on your own. I will give you some
highlights.
Ephesians 1:3-9, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before [d]Him. In love 5 [e]He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the [f]kind intention of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. 7 In [g]Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He [h]lavished on [i]us. In all wisdom and insight 9 He [j]made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His [k]kind intention which He purposed in Him".
It's nearly impossible to figure out were to stop copying this
Scripture. It's mind and heart blowing. This is so good. I get
overwhelmed with His love and "kind intention" every time I read this.
God made known to us the mystery of His will through Jesus. COME
ON!!!!!!! We need revelation and wisdom to know "every spiritual
blessing" that we've already received. God's not waiting for me to act
right to give me the rest of what He offers. I'm waiting for the Spirit
of grace to train me up so I can "handle the truth". That's a little
Jack Nicholson for you. I continue to refer to the mystery of God, when
in actuality, He has given me the answer to the mystery. By definition
it's no longer a mystery. Now it comes down to belief, revelation, and
wisdom.
Ephesians 1:17-20, "that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the [w]knowledge of Him. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart [x]may
be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling,
what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the [y]saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,".
This chapter is like one long sentence. You just need to read all of
chapter 1, often. If you're not flipping out right know, go to the ER.
I want to start praying like this for everyone. I pray like this for
myself and my family, but seriously, can you image if we start praying
like this for everyone all the time. We may actually start receiving
wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. SO GOOD!!!!!!!
Isaiah 55:6-11,"Seek the Lord while He may be found;
Call upon Him while He is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake his way
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
And let him return to the Lord,
And He will have compassion on him,
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.
8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth
And making it bear and sprout,
And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it."
Call upon Him while He is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake his way
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
And making it bear and sprout,
And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it."
Every time I read the Bible, the Holy Ghost lavishes me with grace, wisdom, revelation, and understanding. Saying that God is good feels almost like an insult to Him. He's so much better then good. I feel smitten by Him on a regular bases. Ask the Spirit of grace to give you revelation of the fullness of "every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ", that you've already received, today.
