1Mar2014 - Wisdom From Above

How you doin?  We had a great Bible study last night.  Andrew Wommack's lesson stated the importance of the truth.  In speaking about revival, which I see as revelation, Andrew says this, "But it's going to come as people yield themselves to God, not as they twist His arm more through "intercession" and "spiritual warfare".  I love this idea.  Yielding myself to God has worked better then any prayer, battle, impartation, or prophecy has ever worked for me.  There's something about knowing God in my heart and not just my head.  There's something about yielding myself to Him for transformation.  That's a good word.  James 3 today.
This chapter is a tough one for me.  It's titled "Taming The Tongue".  There's a ton here in this chapter.  I'm only going to touch on a couple of general points.  Verses 8-10, "But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; 10 from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way."  That sounds nice and easy, right?  The first 8 verses talk about how controlling the tongue controls the entire body.  Like a bit in a horses mouth.  What a tricky thing the tongue is.  It can bless and curse.  To me anything that has that kind of range of effect needs to be intensely tended to.
Verses 13-18 describe two kinds of wisdom.  Verses 14-16, "But if you have bitter jealousy and [i]selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, [j]natural, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and [k]selfish ambition exist, [l]there is disorder and every evil thing."  Worldly wisdom lies against the truth.  WOW!!!!!!!  That's wisdom I DO NOT want.  I love the Truth.

Verses 17-18, "
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [m]reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. 18 And the [n]seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace [o]by those who make peace."  That's more like it.  This is wisdom I DO want.  Wisdom that does not lie against the truth.  Wisdom from above.  SO GOOD!!!!!!!  Going back a bit to verse 13, "Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom."  Wisdom and understanding.  I truly believe that I shouldn't speak about anything that I'm not confident about it coming from above.  Generally that means revelation of the truth in the word of God.  Receive wisdom from above today.
