How you doin? A late start today as a result of Tuesday morning men's Bible study. It was great to get back to it. On Sunday,
Stacey and I read John 6. I didn't write about it because, I had just
come off our retreat weekend and felt like my head was going to explode.
Today I wanted to back track a bit.
60 On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”61 Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! 63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are Spirit. 64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. 65 He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.” (John 6:60-65)

get the full effect and context of this scripture you need to read
verses 43-59. I was trying to spare you the agony of reading the entire
chapter in this email. I love verse 63. Jesus' words come to us in
several different ways. First and for most is the Bible. Otherwise,
prayer, worship, testimony, messages, and music can work for me. I agree
completely with Jesus' words are Spirit. I've experienced the life
changing effect of the Word of God.
66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.
68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6:66-68)
I love
Peter. I don't know if anyone in the Bible messed up more then Peter,
but check out this incredible response. COME ON!!!!!!! I love hard
scripture. Verses 43-59 were some of the more difficult for me to read
in the past. This time around I understood them and liked them. DIG
IT!!!!!!! John 6 is NOT light reading, but I love being stretched. Come
to believe and receive the Spirit that is Jesus' words today.
