How you doin?
WOW!!!!!!! Do I love Jesus. Reading the book of Romans really helps me
understand the grace, authority, and my identity and destiny that the
new covenant offers. The 1st time I heard the statement "the old
covenant is an inferior covenant" I was confused and didn't understand
at all. That was back in the beginning of Sept. in Delaware. It's just
know through reading Romans that I'm getting the concept. Hebrews 8 is
the Scripture we looked at in Delaware. Hebrews 8:13, "By
calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and
what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear." Romans is giving me a
working knowledge of why the old covenant needs to disappear. Romans 8
today.
Verses 1-2, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from
the law of sin and death." These verses make it pretty clear to me that
the law leads to death. It makes me aware of my sin, which in turn
forces me to be dependent upon the Holy Ghost. COME ON!!!!!!! That's a
good word... again. I love how this letter from Paul is so connected
chapter to chapter. Each chapter needs the chapter before and after it.
AWESOME!!!!!!!
So today I see more of the new covenant. Verses 14-15, For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The
Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear
again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to
sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” WOW!!!!!!! "Sonship". Now that's a good word. This is a subject that really interest me. Verse 17, "Now
if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with
Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also
share in his glory." AWESOME!!!!!!! This verse really gets me. I don't
know if I even understand what it means to "share in His suffering",
but I'm willing so I can "share in His glory". COME ON!!!!!!! These are
check your pulse verses. To think of being an heir to Abba Father and
co-heirs with Christ is making oil drip from my hands. SAY WORD!!!!!!!
This chapter is thick. I'll try to land this email. Verses 29-30, "For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And
those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also
justified; those he justified, he also glorified." Verse 28 is probably
one of the most quoted verses but 29-30 are sick (sick means better then
great). These verses speak of some serious new covenant living and
promises. I often hear Bill Johnson say how important it is to
understand our identity and to step out into our destiny. The
inheritance we receive is this. Being "conformed to the likeness of His
Son". WOW!!!!!!! It also includes receiving my destiny, call,
justification, and glory. COME ON!!!!!!! These are serious promises. I
want that. Be transformed by being conformed to the likeness of His Son
today.
PS
The headings in this chapter are way cool and luring. "Life Through the
Spirit", "Future Glory", and "More Then Conquerors". The headings are
descriptive of the new covenant.
