f
or those of you who would like to hear from the other, stronger half, of our devotional time. Matthew 15 today.
Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?
(Matthew 15:3) The Pharisee had questioned Jesus about His disciple not washing their hands before eating. I always get a kick out of people questioning Jesus in general.

 "they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:

“‘These people honor me with their lips,

but their hearts are far from me.
They worship me in vain;
their teachings are merely human rules.’[c]” (Matthew 15:6-9) How I pray to never hear these words.
What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” (Matthew 15:10) Tough scripture for me. I battle with the things that come out of my mouth. I've resolved that God will purify me as I seek Him, learn about Him, and understand Him.
Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment. (Matthew 15:28) I love reading about people with great faith. It's encouraging.
Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. (Matthew 15:30) This doesn't say all, but I get the impression Jesus healed everyone. These scripture lead me to believe that it's God's will for all to be healed.

Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.”
(Matthew 15:32) This verse is my favorite today. I love it when Jesus says, "I have compassion for these people". The part that got me was how Jesus wasn't concerned about the people while they were with Him. He was concerned for them when He sent them away. Jesus feeds us physically and mostly spiritually. He does not want us to collapse. COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jesus went on to feed well over 4,000 people with hardly any food. Multiplication is hard for me to understand, but I believe it.
Please pray for us today. We're going to see the Phillies play the Mets today. Harvey is pitching for the Mets and he's way good. I may be falling asleep.
